The recently opened Bro Park horse racing track is located in Upplands-Bro area, some 40 kilometres north-east of the Stockholm, and held its inaugural meeting on 19th June 2016 when over 10,000 people attended. However, it was 5 years prior to the opening that the first seed was sown to develop the new racecourse after the site on which the former Taby Racecourse was sold to developers. The left handed course consists of a grass track with perimeter 2100 metres and a dirt track of 1900 metres, enabling the season to extend from July until December. It now hosts many of the top races in Sweden, including the Stockholm Stora Pris over 1750 metres which was first staged in 1930. It also plays host to the Zowawi Bro Park Sprint Championship over 1150 metres, and the prestigious Stockholm Cup International over 2400 metres in September which was first staged in 1937. |
